Concerning _Antenna_, Jonathan Guy said to Troy H. Cheek in SCANRADIO:
JG> Ouch! Oh well, if he had it Professionally installed he'll have
JG> enough money from a frivilous law-suit to purchase several new
JG> scanners :)
I've always installed my own radios, speakers, etc. When I got a scanner, it
seemed only natural to install it myself. Ditto with the CB. I don't think
it ever occurred to me to try a professional.
JG> What was wrong with the first one? Does the bracket accept the
JG> diameter of the antenna?
The bracket I was looking for had a C-shaped section that routed the coax
around the edge of the trunklid while at the same time completely protecting
it from getting crushed, rubbed, crimped, etc. Actually, what I wanted (and
ended up ordering) was the exact same bracket that came with my trunk-mount
CB antenna. So I called up Tandy and said I broke my old one and wanted a
new one. :-)
The bracket won't actually hold the antenna. It's just so I can securely and
safely route the coax to the magnetic-mount scanner antenna I've been wanting
to use as a permanent fixture on the car. Routed through that bracket, I
suspect the magnet can let go and the antenna still won't rip my scanner out
of the car.
