Hi Allen... Wow that is an old post. But the term won't work up here in the 
North very well. A coke, would get You a coke, or any other form of Cola 
(probably whichever Company is the provider at that particular establishment) 
but Usually up here, there is also a lemon lime type Pop (soda ) and 
depending upon the place one could include Root Beer and a few others. So If 
You ordered a coke, You'd probably get cola. they just interchange the name 
brand. I would go and get a grape pop, or an orange pop from my fridge, but 
not a orange coke. ;-) But there is cherry coke though huh? ;-)
