PG>Hi all,
PG> After about 6 months of bugging you guys, (thanks especially
PG>to Jonathan and Lynn) I have purchased the following system :
PG>Tyan Tiger 1692S Motherboard
PG>Pentium II 333 MHz
PG>512 Meg of SDRAM
PG>Toshiba ATAPI CD-ROM 32x
PG>IBM 8.06 Gig EIDE hard drive
PG>Matrox Millenium II AGP
Nice system.
PG>I have downloaded IDEDASD.EXE to get the IBM1S506.ADD and the
PG>IBMIDECD.FLT files and have incorporated these into the install
PG>disks, per the readme. (And I am using the /V switch on the
PG>IBM1S506.ADD driver statement) Other than that, the install disks
PG>are just as created by the "CDINST.CMD" batch file on the WARP
PG>4.0 (Blue Spine) CD.
PG>When I attempt to install warp, it fails on disk 2 (which is actually
PG>disk 3, of course) with a :
PG>"Trap 0003, Error in driver $ATAPI.CD, system is halted, contact your
PG>service representative."
PG>as well as the usual register info. I have tried various combinations
PG>of BIOS settings regarding shadowing and I have also jumpered the
PG>motherboard all the way back to 233 MHz. None of this has any effect.
PG>Does anyone have any ideas? This SHOULD be a killer system if I can get
PG>past the ATAPI CD-ROM problem. BTW the Hard Disk is attached to channel
PG>0, and the CD-ROM to channel 1. These are the only devices attached to
PG>the on board EIDE controllers, and there are NO other devices or cards
PG>attached except for the Matrox.
Here are some recent notes from the source.

Subject: Re: IBM 8.4GB UDMA disk
The IBM1s506.add that supports >8.4gig (technically 8.2gig)
is in test, and I am running my system now with 12.9 and
8.6 gig IDE drives (my 18.2 gig SCSI has failed since my move)..
we hope to have this driver available in the next week or so..
(a few more bugs to clean up, like the CD as Slave only hang in FP6, the
no eject/insert problem with Syjet IDE drive..
and a couple others..
I was going to work on the Syjet problem this weekend,
but due to the failure of my SCSI drive, I had to spend
WAY too much time restoring my system (thank you BackAgain/2)

Looks like there are still bugletts which you may have fallen into. Make
sure that CD is jumpered to master, it may have been shipped jumpered
as a slave. If you have net access you might consider a post or even
mailing Sam direct. The guy really takes the job seriously although he
is probably still pressed for time; he finally moved to Austin from the
mid-west.
