An elderly person with O-CD often somatasizes their concerns, so seeing
the focus on minute physical details is not unusual. The accounting and
recording of each burp or odd thought can be considered as similar to
ounting
things, but displayed with a different manifestation. It is not
necessary to exhibit both obsessiveness and compulsivity in order to
have this diagnosis. In geriatric psychiatry, we have seen a number of
patients, with multiple losses, who begin to worry about their own
mortality which exacerbates their tendency toward O-CD.
