Me, too! I like to write a simple working "wire-frame" model, as
it is easier to keep one's thoughts straight, and once it does
everything I want it to, then I add the color, graphics and other
gee-whiz things. I guess the wire-frame model is my "flowchart" now.

I feel the same way. I gave up long ago thinking I would write the
great all-purpose program (GAPP) to end all programs. Once I got
through that phase, programming became a lot more fun. I *do* try to
write structured code to to maintain a little discipline in my life,
but I've never let it overwhelm me.
