Hello, Robert.

Thursday March 18 2010 at 17:54, you wrote to me:

To have an additional client to access BBS software kinda is archaic these
days. It reminds me of Excalibur BBS software and the like where you have
to have a special client to get to the BBS (if not just basic access). You
don't see many of those around and I sure the heck ain't gonna get a
special client just to access a BBS one time. At least with an ANSI/TTY
based board, you can use a command shell in Windows, OS/2 or even Linux (if
you can fiddle with the encoding) to get to a board.

I'm not really surprised that Stephen said this; after all, he's known for
saying weird things and thinking they're funny when no one else does, but
this time, he just needs to put the crack pipe down. I'd have thought that
people who've been around enough in the scene would have learned in the
late 90s with all these "advanced" BBS "technologies"
(RIP, SVGA, et al.) that just crapped out with the advent of the WWW.

I guess it's time you, me and a few other programmers sat down to write a
good terminal program that works without the extra BS that's
cross-platform. I dare say that there's enough brainpower in this echo
alone (kooks nonwithstanding) that could whip up something like that
reliably.

Later,
Sean
