I've been trying to follow what's going on but not sure if I'm up to speed.

Are you seeing messages getting changed along the way? That is certainly
unwanted behavior.

I can certainly test things with BBBS and I also have a Mystic BBS setup here
that we could test things with if you are interested in doing that.

Mystic BBS is actively developed by James Coyle and if we could get details to
him I'm sure he would agree that messages should not be changed and if that is
happening is not by design and he would appreciate a bug report.
