Hello there Bill ....

Thanks for that.

BG> Russell is quite correct when he says that I used to force

BG> MNP-4, but now that the USRs have 256-byte LAPM frames, as well as

BG> SREJ (Selective REJect), I doubt that there's any real advantage in

 BG> doing so any more.

Ohh, bugger.

BG> In fact, the only additions I've made to my normal &F1

BG> template init string are &A3, for full connect info (i.e. CONNECT

BG> 33600/ARQ/V34/LAPM/V42BIS) and &K3, which permits BTLZ data

BG> compression on LAPM connects, but disables MNP-5 data compression

 BG> with MNP-4 connects.

Actually loaded the new Terminate 4 package (just released) and it has

support for the Couriers. It initialised the modem with X7 and ever

since I have had reliable BUSY *and* DIAL tones. Go figure!!

I must try this one out with a long distance fax to see about the STD

pips. I use the external Avtek v32bis to do all my faxes.
