subject: Roadster 28.8

Hi,

I recently purchased a Netcomm Roadster 28.8 (V34) modem.
I urgently need some help with the command string I give this thing.
So far I've tried roughly five, and the modem will go at about 3250cps
when downloading from Melb PC, but soon after the stupid thing will drop
back to an average of 2722cps. This is really annoying as it is quite slow
for a 28.8 modem. Some have said that the Roadster is sensitive to poor
line conditions, but most other modems seem to manage to receive data
in the 3200's. Could anybody suggest the best INIT string so I can get a
100% consistent above 3000cps ZIP file download rate from BBS's or is it just
this modem that is the problem?
Finally, it doesn't always connect at 28.8, sometimes 26.4.
Melb PC said Netcomm modems were the best, so I'm a bit cheesed at it's speed
or maybe it's just the strings I feed it.
I also play quite a lot of modem games at 14.4 against my mates (who have
14.4's) and after I play these games at these speeds is when the transfer
rate
is affected the next time I attempt to download files at 28.8.
I need urgent assistance because this is really cheesing me off.

Thanks
