Hi Brian,
BL>PCS is Personal Communicator System or something like that. In
BL>Canada I think it will be 1.9 GHz and very short range like
BL>within 50 feet of a pcs site.
BL>
BL>Originally it was to have no hand-off from one site to another
BL>but they could change.
Aha, this is something which has been proposed for Australia, but so far
nothing has been done about it. I feel that unless it is one hell of a
good and workable system, it will fail, due to the incredible
penetration that cellphones have made in Australia. It has got to the
stage here literally everybody has one of these contraptions.
It's like the penetration of faxes here. Virtually everybody has one of
those too, so nowadays I send very few letters - I just fax everything.
BL>With Bell Mobility Cellular we do have a caller pays option with
BL>is about $3.50 a month extra.
BL>
BL>You get a second cellular telephone number in the 600 area code
BL>which is call orwarded to your regular cellular number. When you
BL>want a caller to call you and them to pay the airtime, you give
BL>them the 60 area code number and they dial it as a toll call and
BL>are billed the tolls plus airtime at 65 cents a minute. In
BL>short, it is a cash cow for the cellular companies.
You're not kidding. I bet there's not many landline callers who'd be
happy about calling via that 60 area code number at the best of times.
Cheers - Ziggy
