Hello Mike,
>> Michelle Obama's "Let's Move!" food nutrition program was for
>> school children. I take it you did graduate from grade school?
MP> Yes, back about the time that Reagan got shot.
And to think the nutcase who did that is now free as a bird.
But not to worrty. He is fine now, having been "cured" of his
disease, and has been released back into society. But I do
not think Jodie Foster has any plans to meet with him any time
soon ...
MP> The fact that all the neighbor kids are still fat and I still have to
clean
MP> up their junk food wrappers from my yard (after the garbage men spill them
MP> all over creation) makes me think that program worked as good as "Just Say
MP> No."
Both Nancy Reagan and Michelle Obama had the best of intentions.
But drugs and alcohol remain a problem today, as does obesity.
Encouragement is one thing, but in order for real progress to
be made there has to be funding for programs designed for that
purpose.
Drug and alcohol rehabilitation services are expensive. Should
those centers be accessible only by the wealthy? Or should they
be accessible by everyone, regardless of income? What about gyms
and other facilities where people can exercise and rid themselves
of excess flab? Many colleges and universities offer free access
for students and faculty. Why not also allow the general public
to do the same?
MP> Actually less so because, while these kids are fat, I did not get
MP> addicted to drugs when I was their age.
Too busy chasing girls can do that to a guy. But does keep them
trim and fit, unlike kids today, who let their thumbs do the walking,
with their ipods and tablets and other devices.
