No, when you have to live there you think things
through a little differently..

Along the same lines that brought us war in the middle east..
They said something interesting on The West Wing last night.
It's a TV show but usually the facts they state come from
the real world.  They mentioned that, allowing for inflation,
gas prices today are cheaper than they were in 1980, and that
allowing for both inflation and the average wage, for most
people gas cost double what it does today in the 1950's..

Interesting if true..

Then there are the other stories you have to wonder about.
In recent years they've said that there are known oil
deposits NOT in the middle east with enough oil to last
the world at current consumption rates for the next
hundred years or so..  (Russia and Canada's Tar Sands, etc.)
But other sources say that we will start to run out of oil
Everywhere in the next 20 years..

Of course nothing in that allows for the billions of
people who'd like to drive cars but can't afford them
at the moment but may be able to if world poverty levels
go their way in the next decade or so..
