Some through no fault of their own may have to rely a SocSec for a while.

Denny McClain ( ex Tiger's pitcher ) through a swindle wiped out the
pension plan of a Peet Packing a meat packing firm in Michigan.
Approximately 250 people in a small town lost jobs, pensions and health
insurance. To say they had a choice is not correct either. McClain only
received six years for wiping out the lives of many in a small town
