Not too far fetched.  I could see Cheney retiring, with or without another
heart attack, and the GOP using his replacement as a chance to give their
candidate a leg up in the 2008 election.  Whether or not it's Rice is
another matter.  Of course, if they're keeping the slot open for Jeb they
would have to pick a non-entity as Cheney's replacement.
