Garth,
Did you, by chance, use only MOT when you were polishing? If you did
nothing but MOT, there's a good chance that you'll fail to distrubute the
work all the way out to the edge. Try switching to TOT with a bit of
lateral displacement (not a lot, maybe 1") for about 20 minutes and
see if you notice any improvement. If you are wortking TOT, gravity will
tend to emphasize the edge. When I did my 16", I switched MOT-TOT
every 30 minutes or so while polishing, and ende up with a near-perfect
sphere. You should also try giving you lap a good, long warm pressing. If
neither of these maneuvers brings about a rapid improvement in your edge
polish, I would have to agree with the others. You are probably turned so
badly that you might as well go back to 9 or 5 micron.
