There was a ban on it for the obvious international problems which it would
cause. Then the US congress & indeed Judges suddenly seemed to claim
global jurisdiction on all sorts of matters from trading with Cuba to the
"War on Drugs" to actions taken during the holocaust by Swiss
Banks to...etc.etc.
At first the other govs all protested etc as if an action happened in one
country (where possibly the action was legal then.....e.g. imagine if Saudi
extended it's anti-alcohol laws globally).
However now other countries have realised that the US isn't going to stop
with it's silliness & so if you can't stop em, join em seems to be the
order of the day.
Ergo this.
Much more is going to come down the pipeline e.g. recently you had the US
& it's arresting of UK betting website managers etc.
All of a sudden the US is going to realise what sort of monster it has
spawned but methinks it will be much too late.
