RD> I call it a drip or service loop and it's a small coil of the co-ax about

RD> Same thing or not?
A drip loop is usually about half a turn that kind of looks like a U.
The purpose mainly so the water comming down the wire will drip off and
not enter the building via the wire. The choke is usually several turns
of wire (coax) that helps to keep the RF from comming down the coax.
The choke will normally be close to the antenna and the drip loop will
be just before where the wire enters the building or any junction boxes
or equipment on the outside.
