That's me! I have always believed that the 40's animation was better than
anything contemporary. It was all done by hand, no computers for short cuts,
and represented true art. New movies are great, but there are scenes in,
say, Melody Time, from 1949, that will never be equalled in a current film.

Can't discuss this on the echo - but you should know that out of some 12000
movies in my current movie library (sourced from commercial tape, cable, pay
per view, pay cable, satellite, regular TV, etc) that Victory is one of my
all time most rare movies. *No one* has it.

Ah, nice to hear someone else likes historic animation! Actually, there
*are* some vintage cartoons I would like to get. In the late 30's two great
animators came together and put out a series of theatrical cartoons for MGM -
the line was called "Harmon & Icing" (Harmonizing, get it?) after the two
animators. There are some 30 cartoons in the series, but I have only two!
TNT used to show some of these, but they haven't for a long time - despite
the fact that one of their promo spots for their morning cartoon set contains
scenes from "Bottles" - a totally outrageous and scary H&I cartoon! If you
had the set of these animated shorts, I might be very interested in doing a
trade.

I have so much stuff I could never detail it all here. I'd have to send you
a 10 page list, which represents *only* my vintage animation. I've got
everything from b/w Popo the Clown to Beanie & Cecil. Let me know what
you're interested in. (Maybe we should take a discussion of general
animation to the "TOONS" echo - the national echo for animation...)

I don't have this one....dang!
