BL> So what State were you born in and was your birthmom still there?
I was born in Wisconsin. My b-mom and I both live in Florida - I live in
Central Florida and she lives up in the "panhandle".
BL> Have you been given the address of the branch of service that your
BL> bfather was in.... I think there are several different addresses
BL> depending on which branch of the military the person was in.
He was in the US Navy. I have the book "How to Locate Anyone Who is or Has
Been in the Military".
BL> I do NOT know however, exactly what information you can request and
BL> GET..... You can request anything, right? :) :)
As a blood relative, I can request and receive his entire military file. I
have already verified that part.
BL> Also, the other aspect you were talking about.. if I ever find something
BL> that will avail me of it, I will keep you on my list.....
BL> BTW.... do you have a dob on that person....?
Unfortunately, all I have is a DOB "range". :-( I know that he was 17 years
old when I was born (09-Oct-1955) and for that to have been the case, he
would have had to have been born between 10-Oct-1937 and 09-Oct-1938. And
therein lies my biggest hurdle. No exact DOB. Without an exact DOB, the
Military Personnel Records Center cannot help me. Of course if I also
happened to have either his SSN or his Service Number, they could also help
me. But I don't have either of those. And with a name like Richard Lee,
there are just too many of them (somewhere like 1460 phone number listings in
1992) to start writing letters or phoning.
BL> Do you know anything about him like occupation, place of origin
BL> at the appropriate time :)? Place of birth??
Nope, nope, nope. He completed 2 years of High School. His mother (who's
name I do not know) was divorced at the time and they were living in an
apartment in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I do not know if she took back her
maden name when she got divorced. I also do not know which state they were
living in when she got divorced. And I do not know his father's name.
BL> And as for bmom.... is it the big secret thing, or denial...?
I suspect that is due to the fact that husband # 2 (current one) doesn't know
about what happened before husband # 1 and she doesn't want to "rock the
boat" with him after all these years.
BL> I guess being a birthmom... I could relate to it to the
BL> sense that most birthmothers have been in the same place... some
BL> have simply gotten through somehow or at least tried to live with
BL> it and still not block persons out of their life....
Unfortunately I do not know what might "get through to her" since I have only
had one contact with her and that was a 45 minute phone call back in July of
1992. At that time she requested that we not have any further contact. The
hope that she might "open up" after husband # 2 departs the scene (his health
has not been very good for a while now) is what is keeping me from contacting
her to try to get some additional information about my b-father.
BL> Glad that your sister is close.... is she also close geographically?
My sister still lives up in Wisconsin. B-mother moved down to Florida after
my sister got married which just happened to be when my b-mother and husband
# 1 got divorced - shortly after my sister got married.
BL> Do you have non id? The big question - DOB??
I have my non-id, and I have my sealed Court File which I obtained via a
Court Order. Unfortunately there wasn't anything in it about my b-father
since back then the b-fathers were never ajudicated. From my non-id I know
that he was 17 when I was born, but they didn't list his DOB.
BL> I wonder where I was when you were searching..... perhaps you did
BL> not post it online.. You think?? :)
It has been quite some time since I last posted my information about my
b-father search. Perhaps I need to re-post it. Now if I can just find the
text file that has all of the information already typed in.....
