Russ, just don't use the rouge straight out of the bottle. Mix it with
water and shake it furiously for as long as your arms hold up. I use a
large plastic pop bottle for this. Then let it sit for about an hour. The
large nasty particles will settle out, and the ultra fine desirable
particles will stay suspended. Slowly pour off about half of the red fluid
into a clean bottle. This will work quite nicely for figuring and finishing
the surface.
I have seen rouge that completely settled in a half hour. The water was
clear above the rouge! It was complete crap and needed to be ball milled
for two weeks in a home made mill. Then I was able to settle for a day and
use the red fine for polishing. Marvellous surface from that!
Rouge contamination is just amazing. It can tunnel through walls and turn
up in places you have not been. Wash,, Wash and wash again before leaving
the polishing area, else the wife will be sorely displeased!
