There were several reasons why I decided to go with Searchlight. I guess
the ¨big "sell" for me was its web-server component called
Spinnaker. Eventually ¨I plan to revamp my website with file and message
conferences from the BBS, ¨and Spinnaker integrates everything with a few
clicks of the mouse. I could ¨probably write a big article on why I think
its awesome, at least for its ¨time anyway. Spinnaker is powering my
website now actually.

To do the same thing with Renegade would of required that I write a whole
¨webserver from scratch, something I don't have time to do anymore. I look
¨for things that "just work", and so... well, it is what it is.

Searchlight tends to organise things a bit better than Renegade did, in
¨terms of the way its configured and set up, and doesn't do things
¨"half-assed", if you don't mind the expression and if that makes
sense. ¨Stuff like lightbars, dynamic menus and all that is all done
internally. Not ¨that I care about RIP, but its interesting stuff being
able to do it ¨locally and how it auto-generates all the graphics. :-)

I had some issues getting Echomail to work properly the way it should, but
I ¨wrote a quick program that produced what it needed. Other than that... I
¨just find the whole thing simplier to use, for the few users I have.
