You forgot to mention that the only thing broken with the latest updates has been mplayer, which in itself is not a deal breaker.  Having said that, it would be nice to have it working again if only just for showing off to the uninitiated ... like the users of Debian and it's evil spawn (Ubuntu comes to mind).  :::insert evil, maniacal snickering:::
