Hi - I thought I'd add my "two penneth worth" here as well.  You can also use 
VIEW  TOOLBARS and chose [RESET] to get everything back to normal.  But I've 
removed the Format Painter button and use the following instead, as I find it 
works a little better
1.  Select the formatting you want 
2.  [CTRL] [SHIFT] C (for Copy)
3.  Select or place the cursor inside the text you want in the same format.
4.  [CTRL] [SHIFT] V (for paste format)
You can use the last keystrokes as many times as you want, and in any 
document (unitl you use the copy format command again).
