I don't want to sound stupid, but be an EMT in a service that has a high
volume of calls. This will perfect your basic skills, so they become
second nature to you. It will also give you a point of reference as you
go along in your Paramedic program.
When they tell you about a CHF patient in acute pulmonary oedema, you
will be relate and insert those ALS skills into your basic ones. Even if
you are a certified ALS provider, the first rule is always do the basic
first.
One of the most failed station in the National Registry Paramedic Exam
is Patient Assesment(sp?). You don't get more basic than that.
