Well, it isn't a tempest. Different body in many ways and the
suspension was setup exactly like a chevelle instead of the
Tempest's. (I have owned both, still do own the Tempest)
It most certainly didn't have a Pontiac Motor, there were none built for
the Canadian market. All pontiacs from canadian plants had the Chevrolet
motor.

Well, as far as I can find out (It's hard, no-one kept good records of
the Canadian versions so it's all research and talking to older folks)
There was never a Pontiac motor put in a car built in canada. While in
the states the Tempest had the OHC 6/ Hi per 4Bbl OHC 6 and the
326, in Canada the Tempest was never sold in dealerships. The only
options I can find on canadian cars is Chevy inline 6/ 283
For the low to moderate range (283 was the 190 hp version produced in
Ontario plants not the Turbo-Fire 197 hp version out of Detroit)
and for the higher levels of pontiac's they had the (chevy, all chevy)
350, 327 or the Big block (VERY rare option) 427.
Olds were untouched by this, the Olds 455 is all over the place.
same as other Buick motors, some reason all Pontiacs were given chevy
motors.
One interesting thing is that the Chevy 302 actually appeared in
a few cars as an option as soon as 1967. I have never seen any actually
with that option but several of the lists I have include the motor as
available. Seems we were the guinea pig for that baby. But we have ton's
of 283's as well. The 301 was probably the most popular performance
motor in our area from 1960 until the mid 80's when 350's started
getting common enough to replace them.
