B5 was designed to be political, that was the whole concept behind it. DS9
wasn't really star trek, it was more like B5 because it just sat there (how
can you trek if you don't trek?). The theme behind star trek has always
been one of exploration and hope and without those it's just not ST to me.

I think the current enterprise was one of the best ST yet, if they had only
allowed the plots to move along the lines of the basic concept. They could
have showed were the prime directive came from (the big mistake that made
them adopt it) and things like that but instead they decided to spend a
season in the expanse and then do this mini series crap instead of playing
off the history of the show and current events/issues.
