SC>>> I'll have to show him FIDO one day. :-) DC>> It's a good way to learn reading, typing and other language DC>> skills. SC>> That shoots down the people who complain that their kids are SC>> reading and writing less, doesn't it? I saw a documentary on this SC>> the other day. They were saying that kids are reading and writing SC>> more now than ever before with the computers, text messages on SC>> cell phones, etc. The problem with the writing part though is the SC>> LOLs, u for you, r for are, etc. Of course, they could still SC>> write complete sentences using those. SC>> c u l8r :-) DC> Which is the problem! DC> I have no problem with certain shortcuts. Emoticans are one. But, DC> it is important that proper grammar and spelling are enforced. And not to depend on the spell and grammar checks in WORD. If I type read as red it won't pick it up as being wrong. It also has picked up errors when I use quotes and then say he/she said. If I put a period at the end of the quote, it picks up the he/she said as a new *incomplete* sentence sometimes.
