DC>One of the "minor" problems you have is that some 70% of
those terrorists
 DC>were not terrorists.

TR> What were they...Fuller Brush salesmen? Or the Culligan Man!

They were detained in wide sweeps without supporting evidence.

DC>They may be now, thanks to W's mistreatment of them.

TR> *W* didnn't mistreat anybody. Nice straw man.

W fully authorized the interrogation tactics used in Gitmo and other detainee
centers. What happened there was not only under his watch but under his
command.

DC>His policies have been the best recruiting program for groups such as Al
 DC>Qaeda.

TR> Hogwash! The mid-eastern terrorists have been murdering American
TR> citizens, and holding American citizens hostage for decades now.

I never claimed that. My statement was the W's policies were Al Qaeda's
Madison Ad campaign.

As a result, in the wake of US intervention in Iraq, Islamist elements in
Muslim territorial and migrant communities have been able to recruit at least
two members for every terrorist captured, injured, or killed by the US and
coalition forces.

The politicized, radicalized, and mobilized segments of migrant and diaspora
communities are today functioning as bridgeheads for terrorist groups. With
the exception of the Oklahoma City bombing, which was perpetrated by US
right-wing terrorists, all recent major terrorist attacks in the West have
been attempted or conducted by foreign terrorist groups either operating under
cover of or recruiting from their transnational communities.

TR> This country's failure to deal directly and with great prejudice, with
TR> the terrorists who were murdering and kidnapping Americans, and the
TR> countries from which they come, is one of the direct causes that led to
 TR> the 9\11 disaster.

This country failed to deal with the problems it helped create which created
the terrorists.

The US has spent far too much time propping up tin pot dictators in its quest
for stasble oil supplies. W's "the Iraqi oil will pay for the war" is one
such example.

All W has done is destabilize the region and placed Iran into a lead role.
Instead of checking Iran, he removed the major buffer in the area. Though not
liked by his neighbors, Iraq actually helped maintain the unsteady peace.
