| subject: | Walking a DNS... |
Hi Folks, I have a need to "walk" a DNS Domain, searching for specific record types within the DNS. At first this sounded reasonably easy, start at the Domain root, grab the Zone file, extract all NS records for each child Domain, then in turn, grab those domain files looking for what I need. Repeat until the entire Domain is searched. The "problem" I have is that I can't find a way to select records by TYPE without resorting to external (IE non-REXX) utilities. In fact SockGetHostByName() (or any other related Sockets call) does not appear to allow for accessing individual record types other than A records. How about locating AAAA or MX records? Have I missed something here folks?
