The "rigidity of the so-called "adaptive" genetic
canalization" is via _genuine_ genetic epistasis.
Real epistasis only constitutes non additive genetic
associations. However population genetics restricts what
is "heritable" and thus "selectable" to only additive
gene associations. In their view something can be
"inherited" but not "heritable". Only things that they
regard as "heritable" become "selectable". Thus population
genetics places Darwinism and Darwinisn fitness in a
straight jacket via oversimplified model misuse.

The standard population genetic view as defined
by Fisher and Haldane has been refuted by the human
genome project because millions of human phenotypes
remain selectable via only 30,000 or so genes.
The only possible way this can be explained is
to allow non additive (genuine epistatic) traits to
be regarded as "heritable" and thus, "selectable".

C. H. Waddington's revision of Fisher and Haldane's
basic population genetic equations to include the
variable "developed in x" implying the heritability
of genuine epistatic traits lies waiting like a time
bomb to explode population genetics misuse. I
would like to thank Prof. Felsenstein (who was
a student of Waddington) for providing a reference
for Waddington's Revision some time ago. However,
Prof. Felsenstein refuses to discuss the implications
of Waddington's revision. Not a single population
geneticist that posts here will discuss Waddington's
revision and to my knowledge no population geneticist
has referenced this revision over the last 50 years.
