It already up to date.  The real problem is the "Intel Corporation UHD Graphics 630 (Desktop 9 Series)" near as I can tell given that other i915 ones do give me console penguins.  Thanks for the suggestion though as it is always nice to confirm everything as it should be.

Not a big deal as long as it all works which it does despite the lack of penguins at bootup.  :-/
