The GIGO documentation indicates that it can handle SOUP format files, so 
are you saying that VSOUP generates broken SOUP files?

I have all the newsgroups configured in mapping.cfg, yes, with nothing 
other than the group name on the line, which I take to be the way to 
configure them to use the name of the newsgroup as the echo name.
