Hi Sheila!  First, thanks for the reply and your interest in the subject.  
Now, as far as researh goes on females and Science and Technology, you can 
get heaps of information if you contact the New South Wales Department of 
Education.  They have only recently brought out a policy package on Gender 
Equity and one of it's main concerns is on females and education.  I'm not 
sure if it's the Science and Tehnology co ordinators who brought it out but I 
was shown it by a Science liason from the department.
I can't quote you any direct studies but the Department will be sure to help. 
 The studies that I have seen have been of the Observational kind and reports 
written here are usually based on females Tertiary Education Results.
