That depends on the situation. If we get some volcano to cover the earth in
dust and there are no harvests for several years, some rich guys might buy all
the food that's left and store it somewhere. Then someone else steals just as
much as he needs to survive without getting the rich guy into trouble. While
the theft clearly violated the right of property, was it okay for the rich guy
to keep all the food for himself even if it was much more than he needed?
What's the value of the stolen food, is it the price the rich guy paid or the
price it used to be sold for?
