Buses have always gone to St. Matthews, out Westport Road, and even out to
Prospect. Now, you may have always had to transfer (and more than once) to
get from those areas to the far West End, but they've always run in at
least as far as wherever the old post office/federal building is. I think
they ran as far as Central High, too.
Even if it is a single bus ride, it is a much longer ride than Shively or PRP,
that much is true.
Some of the kids that got "bussed" to Waggener used to ride TARC from
somewhere downtown to get there. I know that because they'd sometimes get
in fights with the Trinity boys, who were almost always white and almost
always would start it.
