JH>05-Mar-97 11:06:13, Bob Juge screamed at Barry Bogart@ About %6K
JH> BB>> Ok, so how is this 56K gonna work? Is it for just to call
JH> BB>> ISP's? Or can I dial up Frank's BBS and connect at 56k if we
JH> BB>> both have the capability?
JH> BJ> An X2 host must have a digital connection on its side (ISDN BRI
JH> BJ> or PRI, T1, T3,
JH> BJ> etc). That narrows down the field. One X2-capable analog modem
JH> BJ> connected to
JH> BJ> another X2-capable analog modem will _not_ negotiate an X2
JH> BJ> session.
JH> What if that digital connection is an inhouse network?
Two analog X2 client modems will *never* talk to each other at anything
over V.34 speeds. One end *must* be an X2 server *modem* (actually, a
terminal adapter) and must be connected to an ISDN or other 56k digital
line.
