I've heard that there are issues with both when it comes to web multimedia apps.  I've never tried either with anything.

The winner here in this neck of the woods when it comes to streaming would have to be MOV which can be played with anything we've thrown at it, especially an older Apple laptop that is on it's last legs.  That one became the 'decider' as far as networking AV schtuffenputten.  I am guessing we'll switch to H.264 once it has been officially retired.  I am in no rush.
