I used to have DOSBox v0.73 and felt uncomfortable with it.

I remember a thing called Sidekick many, many decades ago.  It was a
TSR-type program that had mini-apps for a Calculator, Notepad-type thing
and a few other tools that could be called-up using ALT-hotkey combinations
IIRC.  It can't be the same thing you had can it?
