If you saw my 8" flex there on the hill (all black) you'd remember the
design which had the mirror mounted in a cake pan like cell on a flat
plate. The plate extended outward from the cell and attached at 4 points to
the truss ends.

There were many designs like this in older atm books, basically the cell
mounts to the tube and the attachment is the adjusting point.

Bummer about the rain, eh? But even water is star stuff.

Subject: ATM Stellarain & collimation/cell question

Hi folks,

This year we got duluged by the mother of all torrential rainstorms up on
Breezy Hill. Still, we were able to do mechanical judging and had 14
well-deserved award winners --I hope some of you were there to see them!
We didn't get to do optical, but there was at least a concensus about
that --we had sucker-hole after sucker-hole where one of us would exclaim:
There's Altair.. oh, wait, nope, it's gone again. Let's hope the weather
treats us better next year!

Question: I'm interested in any information about creating a mirror cell
which is as compact as possible, with collimation perhaps happening at the
sides of the tube instead of from the back. Any ideas or experiences with
this would be welcome. I've got a situation where I want to keep my OTA as
short as is possible.

Thanks!

../Iliana
