I do not have the figures at my "fingertips", but last time I was at Disney
Corporate in Burbank, I had a chance to read them. The "ridership per hour"
rates were almost as bad as the rates for "Great Moments witr. Lincoln",
hich
was nearly replaced with the "muppets" until there was a great "stink" from
the public that saved it (I was one of the Disney Corporate employees that
complained the loudest when I found out about it).
The two reasons that you cite do not have anything to do with the demise of
the Peoplemover. The throwing of items occur in all of the attractions
(including space mountain, the matterhorn, and Small World), and they have
ot
closed down any of the other attractions for that reason (due to being very
popular attractions). The "new vision" theory is untrue, because the design
that is currently being used originally had the Peoplemover in it... the
"super speed bikes" were a "last minute" addition.
The "low ridership per hour", the people injured and killed on the
eoplemover
when they exited the ride while it was in motion (IE near the tunnels at the
Circlevision theatre for example), and other similar concerns were more
important to the elimination of this attraction.
