Thanks Mark for explaining things to me,

Windows OS sounds very convoluted, at least you can understand it
better than I can.

You are correct again! It is a SCSI Controler Card.  DUH!
In XPs Device Manager it is under SCSI and RAID controllers and called
Advansys SCSI Host Adapter.
It is made by Advanced System Products, Inc.

It's the first SCSI thingy I've used on this XP box.
The HP ScanJet 4c I used to use on the 486 box was SCSI too, it came
with its own 8-bit ISA Card.
I never had any urge to try any other SCSI devices while I used the 4c.
I probably just thought SCSI was for the more knowledgable folks who
I figured had the $$$.$$ to purchase the stuff. ???

I'd suppose you used a lot of SCSI things either on the job or at home?
