Hi! Holger, On Thu, 30 Jan 14, you wrote to me: PQ>>Good morning! ;-) HG> Thanks! ;o) Yes it is, just a bit chilly as of late, -6øC Same here, as the ex-cyclone turns into a tropical low. Currently 26.2C, and I feel the need for a light sleeveless jacket to stave off the chill. ;-) HG> My first contact came 2003 when a Red Hat set of installation disks HG> or maybe a CD were included with a magazine. I've still got that HG> magazine on top of a pile of old maga. My sister gave me one of those types of cover disks in early 2005, without the magazine. It was my first installation, called Lycoris Desktop/LX. Very, very Windows-y. I recently discovered the pair of old HDDs that formed the system, and tried to recover the data from them to form a new VirtualBox PC. The first disk was fine but the second wouldn't read correctly and unfortunately without it, the system just wouldn't run. When the Lycoris system was running it took up so much space that I had to break up the system across two HDDs to allow for some expansion, which is something that Linux has the flexibility to do. The second HDD had the /usr partition on it, which is roughly equivalent to a big library of DLLs in Windows' parlance. The project is on the 'back burner' for a rainy day. HG> There's a lot of unfinished business here so I don't promise HG> anything. Mmm... you mean the stack of magazines & disks? You wouldn't have the PC Authority magazine with the Lycoris CD, would you? :) HG> Have a nice night, Oh, you're good! Yes, it is late afternoon. A chilly one coming up. Cheers, Paul. ...
