Hi! Ed, On Sat, 01 Mar 14, you wrote to me: PQ>> You could have changed the extension during the save dialogue, PQ>> Ed. EV> I did that yesterday as a test and it saved the page with .TXT ext EV> that I manually added B4 I clicked the Save button. Ta Da! That warms the cockles of my heart to see that. :) EV> I have downloaded a C=64 emulator but haven't tried it out. Yep, I know the feeling. It's one of those priority #99 jobs that you just know is gonna be a headache. So, it stays as the 99th job. EV> I learned to save GWbasic files with the ,a option so QBasic could EV> run them. Ooh, nice. I'm guessing it's an ASCII save option, without looking at any doco files. EV> The ][ was a very good PC, a Ham Radio Operator ran a BBS using a ][ EV> and I could Log On it using my Netronics ASCII Keyboard Video EV> Terminal over the airwaves. Neat. Around-about that time I visited a mate's house, who was living with about 2-3 other blokes. They had an IBM PC of some sort running a dial-up BBS that was a game server for a couple of games, as well as a 'gateway' for play-by-mail moves to be entered. Yes, people were playing games using snail-mail to make moves & getting results back! The PC was hooked up to an accoustic coupler for modem players. No shoes in the house! because of the polished wooden floor, lest the noise play havoc with the handset+coupler. EV> Later on I used a C=64 program called DIGICOM to Log On to another EV> Ham Radio BBS that was running on a IBM compatible, using Packet EV> AX.25 . Oh, yeah! EV> One thing I liked about the Commodore Disk Drive was it had DOS EV> inside the drive on a ROM, I didn't have to use a HELLO disk as the EV> ][ users had to have to wake up the Apple DOS. That brings back memories. :) Somehow, during swapmeets, I picked up a really nice Applebasic utility that I set as the (autoexec.bat-type) boot program after loading AppleDOS. It provided a menu based on the directory listing for the floppy and ran a continuously-spinning ticker-style option list at the bottom of the menu to run any listed executables. It was the 'ants pants' of menu programs. Cheers, Paul. ... So Many Messages!
