Right.  For instance, my Grandfather who lived in a smallish
town in Germany had a shoe repair shop in his house in the
early 1900's.  The office area was on the first floor, and the
living space was on the second floor and third floors (it was
a BIG house).  At noon it was traditional to close up for 2
hours for lunch, and he would just have to go upstairs.
