I'm guessing your interested in offroad. The latest from Associated is the 
RC10B2 and RC10T2. One of the Francis' brothers won the IFMAR world 
championship's with a B2. From Losi, XX, and XXT. The XX will be replaced 
later this year though. They also came out with a gas truck called the GTX.
Parking lot racing is the big trend now. Sedans in particular. Every company 
except for a few (associated & losi) have a sedan model. The top three are 
HPI, Yokomo, and Tamiya. They are so popular because there handle, and look 
like real cars on the road. 
As for electronics side -- well it just keeps getting better every 6 
months... there are other ESC manufacturers competing with Novak and Tekin 
and their ESC are just as good or in some respects better.
Go to the local hobby shop and see what they have or read the latest R/C Car 
Action Magazine.
