subject: eventing scoring?

Could some of you eventers out there give us a quick run-down on scoring?
For instance --
1) how do the dressage scores get converted into points?
2) what sorts of things incur a jumping penalty?
3) how about the cross-country time faults?
4) is the stadium show-jumping scored the same way as Grand Prix show
jumping, (rail =4 faults, refusal = 3 faults, time faults = .25/second) or
different?
All the TV coverage I've seen sort of assumes everybody already knows, and I
haven't seen enough yet to figure it out. Obviously from the scores I have
in hand for the Olympics, it's all set up so the lowest score is best, like
golf (or show jumping).
Grand Prix Dressage is the other way 'round (highest is best) so they must do
something to the event dressage scores to make it come out the right way, but
what?
Thanks!
