Rod,
In Ohio those adopted prior to 1/1/64 may request a copy of their original
birth certificate. If you call (614) 466-4784 (Vital Stats - Adoption), they
will tell you how to proceed. I think that they might require a copy of an
ID,along with a reasonable fee and that's about it. Someone at that phone
number can tell you for certain. After you receive the birth certificate,
you'll have your birth mother's name and her birthplace.
ISRR is the International Soundex Reunion Registry. You may request a form
y
sending a SASE to: International Soundex Reunion Registry, P.O. Box 2312,
Carson City, NV 89702. Two other free registries are mine and the one
maintained by Betty Heide. You would need to send a SASE to: Mary Fuller,
ITTAT Registry, 2599 3E Riverside Drive, Columbus, OH 43221; and one to:
Reunion Registry of Indiana, P.O. Box 361, South Bend, IN 46624.
Please keep me posted about obtaining a copy of your original birth
certificate. I'd be glad to help guide you on what to do after your obtain
your birth mother's name. -Mary
