A better way to put it might be that ADHD can be symptomatic of a larger issue. In my reading, if it manifests with other symptoms, it can be anything from an autistic disorder to an improper diet. Before my research, I just thought my daughter was ADHD. Then I noticed her becoming more aggressive, prone to outbursts, while other times seeming down, and so on. Her mother was diagnosed ADHD when she was young, but in adulthood was found to be bipolar, so I thought she may be bipolar. Then I noticed that her social development was a bit stunted (she can be described as "odd"), and along with a few other small signs, we now think it's Asperger's (which encompasses for symptoms the ADHD, bipolar symptoms, social awkwardness, loudness, defiance and aggression (frustration, which she has yet to learn to handle)). After all my research, I believe her mother also has Asperger's; it wasn't very well known in our childhood, and it wasn't believed to even be possible for a child to have manic depression (now called bipolar disorder). Unfortunately, since we're divorced, my concerns carry very little weight with her, and she refuses to believe she even has a problem and seek medical, let alone therapeutic, help. --- SBBSecho 2.12-Win32* Origin: SETX Chat and BBS - Vidor, TX (1:393/31) SEEN-BY: 10/1 11/200 331 14/250 34/999 123/500 128/2 187 140/1 222/2 226/0 SEEN-BY: 230/150 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1410 1418 266/1413 SEEN-BY: 275/91 280/1027 320/119 340/0 396/45 633/260 267 280 712/848 801/161 SEEN-BY: 801/189 5030/1256 @PATH: 393/31 396/45 261/38 633/260 267 |
