# 1 I bought a US Robotics modem. I tried and tried with a Microcom modem
and it just flat wouldn't work. Pure Rockwell chipset modems lower &
raise carrier (I'm told the specs call for this for some reason) during fax
receipt. When carrier is lowered Bink thinks the session has ended and it
hangs up. Beyond that it works as advertised:

The following lines should be put in your binkley.cfg (all this is covered
in the BGFAX docs):

Extern spawn ; this causes Bink to spawn EXTMAIL.BAT|CMD
PreInit |v``^``ATZ|~AT+FCLASS=2\.0|
Init AT+FAA=1;+FLI="817\ 561\ 0713";+FNR=1,1,1,1|
Prefix AT+FCLASS=0;DT

You might need to change that init string a bit.

Then the extmail.bat looks like this:
{at}echo off
cd \bgfax
c:\bgfax\bgfax /fco:4 c:\bgfax 2 z
call c:\bgfax\doprint.bat
del c:\bgfax\doprint.bat

It worked great until I switched to the XE version of Bink but only after I got
a USR modem, Sportsters work fine. I don't know why so many modem mfg's don't
get this right but US Robotics does and probably others as well.

Bye..Bob
