The White Sands of This Moment
by Sondra Ball
Yesterday is now a fading rainbow;
and tomorrow is a tide that's coming in.
But here, upon the white sands of this moment,
I'll sing my song, and you can sing with me.
We'll sing of sudden rainbows we've encountered.
We'll sing of all the stars we've ever met.
We'll sing of how we saw the sun's bright circle
come skipping through the clouds to light the sand.
For yesterday is now a fading rainbow;
and tomorrow is a tide that's coming in.
But here, upon the white sands of this moment,
I'll dance my life, and you can dance with me.
We'll dance of all the tides the moon will bring us.
We'll dance of seashells rising to the shore.
We'll dance of swimming naked in the moonlight
on summer evenings in a future sea.
For yesterday is now a fading rainbow;
and tomorrow is a tide that's coming in.
But here, upon the white sands of this moment,
we'll hold each other close, and dance and sing.
